The Nursery

I am so EXCITED to finally share baby Barrettโ€™s nursery, who arrived earlier than expected! Our project nursery was so much fun to do together. Hubby was a great help and had some great ideas, as we started to map out how we envisioned her nursery to look.

From day one of building our home, I knew that what was going to be my office space was going to become a nursery someday. While it took a little longer than anticipated {check out our story on infertility}, we finally got to work on our first dream project together in our home. If you are an expecting mamma, make sure you check out my hospital bag checklist post, which totally came in handy for us.

I love the lighting in this room. It is so bright with the two windows, and it has such a welcoming warm feeling. {I will list where everything came below thatโ€™s featured in the photos}. When we choose the paint colours for our home, I wanted to keep things neutral so that itโ€™d be easier to switch out dรฉcor versus switching out paint colours. The wall colour is Thunder by Benjamin Moore ยฎ.

Theme

I wanted her nursery to be simple and elegant. With just some pops of blush throughout to give it a pop of colour. I love the look of white furniture, especially in a nursery it so easy to add pops of colour when your base is so clean and bright, like white.

My husband came up with the idea to have her decals appear as though theyโ€™re falling down the wall, and they turned out so PRETTY {my husband is pretty creative}. I always wanted these decals for her wall but was on the fence with getting wallpaper.

We couldnโ€™t settle on a wallpaper we liked. I am so pleased with how these decals turned out and the feminine touch theyโ€™ve added. I also ordered the letter E, for Everly, to be centred with the crib, versus being centred with the wall {talk about contrast, haha}. I love the look of elegance in with the font style used for the letter.

The Crib

I went with just a simple and sleek crib for her nursery, I wanted something more modern looking. I couldnโ€™t get over some of the prices for just a crib when we were crib searching, but yikes these things can get up there in price! I actually happened to score this one on sale on Wayfair. I never read so many reviews before in my life, until buying baby items. The reviews on this crib were very helpful in Chris and I making our decision.

The Bedding

Her bedding was the first thing I purchased from the Pottery Barn Kids. I fell in love with the chicness, elegance of the bed skirt and simple blush colour. Once her bedding arrived I started to base everything else off of that. I ordered a bed skirt; two mattress covers and a toddler blanket at 25% off during a spring sale. I am a sale shopper… which just got me thinking, I should write a post on how I shop sales!

The Bookshelves

I had originally used these shelves when this was my office space for my certificates, badges, etc. and I knew that I could make good use of them again in her nursery. They make the perfect bookshelf for some of her books, and of course some of her teddy bears.

The Glider

The glider came from Wayfair, as well. It is so comfortable, and soft. While the colour wasnโ€™t exactly as I saw on their site. I am making it work. But, the comfort of this chair totally still wins me over. A friend actually recommended this glider and when I went and read the reviews I knew I needed to order it. I also scored this piece on sale. Iโ€™ve already spent many evenings rocking, reading to her, nursing her, and singing one of my favourite nursery rhymes. Which brings me to my next photo.

Homemade Decor

Let me start with the picture that you see featured here on the wall. It was handmade by a local lady of Aurora Design Co. here in Fort McMurray. I could not love it more. It turned out more beautiful than I ever imagined. And who doesnโ€™t love the words to โ€œyou are my sunshineโ€. What is your favourite nursery rhyme?

The Change Table

Also featured on this side of the room is her change table, which I ordered from Wayfair, and also got on sale {seriously, I sale shop for everything. I mean everything}. I changed out the hardware with some crystals which I ordered off of Amazon, thanks to the idea from my friend. I wanted to do flower printed ones but was struggling to find exactly what I was looking for. At least these go with anything and they totally pull the bling out from her bed skirt.

The Mirror

The mirror featured on her wall totally brings some more brightness to her room, but also makes the room appear a little larger. I used this mirror at my make-up vanity and knew that it would look super cute in her nursery above her change table. Not to mention, Everly loves to catch a glimpse of herself from time to time, it’s SO cute!

The Nightstand

I wanted a nightstand for a few reasons. I wanted a convenient breastfeeding station for one, but also a place for her humidifier and noise machine/nightlight. I scored this nightstand for cheap at Walmart and changed out the hardware with the crystals I ordered from Amazon. I also used this stand for storing the charging cords etc. for things like her monitor.

I really enjoyed doing this blog post for you all! I hope you find some inspiration here!
