INGREDIENT NOTES

  • Russet potatoes: these are the best potatoes for this recipe. They crisp well and they also have a soft fluffy inside once cooked.
  • Olive oil: this adds some great texture, tastes great, and adds a nice crisp to the fries in the air fryer.
  • French fry seasoning blend: a homemade blend of garlic and onion powder, with Paprika, pepper, and salt is a great combination of spices for these home fries.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

  • Prepare 4-5 large potatoes by rinsing, slicing (like a fry) ½ inch thick, and add to a bowl medium-sized mixing bowl.
  • Rinse sliced potatoes two times.
  • Add water and fill to the top, covering the fries so they don’t brown.
  • Soak for up to 1 hour before cooking.

  • Drain off the water after an hour and pat the fries dry. I like to use a tea towel, toss so many in at a time give them a good shake, and pat dry with a paper towel or another tea towel.
  • Once potatoes are dry, add to a clean bowl, toss in olive oil, and the spice blend.
  • Set aside the bowl. Preheat your air fry to 400F for 3-4 minutes.

  • Spray the basket with spray oil, layer in your potatoes (DO NOT OVERLAP THEM), set temp to 380 degrees Fahrenheit, cook for 8 minutes, toss fries and cook for another 8 minutes.
  • Continue this until all fries are cooked, about 4 times.
  • To keep the fries warm while waiting for the rest, add them to a sheet pan set the oven to 275 Fahrenheit, and place the fries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to keep them warm.
  • Serve with your favorite dip!
