Easy Homemade Chicken Tenders

A quick, easy and healthy recipe using chicken breast and a few other ingredients combined to make tasty homemade chicken tenders with a homemade dipping sauce.

I am a huge chicken tender/nugget fan. It’s like the one childhood food that has grown with me. Do you have a childhood food that’s grown with you?

Almost every day for lunch when my brother and I were in elementary school, my mom would usually have chicken tenders made for lunch. We were lucky and got to eat at home just about every day.

I love that Everly now eats with us. Seeing her try new foods is exciting especially my recipes. She loves this recipe.

HOW TO SERVE CHICKEN TENDERS

Fries, sweet potato, salad topper and more.

There are many options when it comes to serving chicken tenders. Usually, we do sweet potato wedges, fries or salad, and they even go good on a sandwich or wrap! I am a sucker for breaded chicken.

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE CHICKEN TENDERS

Very few ingredients are required for this recipe.

If you are new here, I am all about time-saving meals. Meaning the fewer ingredients the better. This recipe doesn’t require much ingredient-wise, just a little elbow grease.

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Fresh Chicken Breast
  • Egg
  • Milk
  • Panko Crumbs
  • Dried Parsley
  • Chilli Powder
  • Sea Salt and Black Pepper

HOW TO CUT CHICKEN BREAST

The cut, the angle and the thickness of chicken tenders.

Boneless skinless chicken breast is the easiest to work with for this recipe. You can make your tenders as thick or thin as you like, just remember to adjust the cooking time accordingly.

It is best to cut chicken breast against the grain, which will give the chicken a nice tender texture, meaning they’ll easily fall apart.

DO YOU BAKE OR FRY CHICKEN TENDERS

Baking or frying chicken tenders for this recipe is optional.

You can bake them or fry them. For this recipe, I baked them. I wanted them to be a “healthier” protein option, one that I could eat twice a day and not feel guilty about.

For baking, just preheat the oven to 400 and bake anywhere from 18-24 minutes depending on the thickness of your chicken. Flip them halfway through the cooking time to allow both sides to get crispy.

You can also fry this recipe if you choose. Just make sure your oil is hot and ready before putting your chicken tenders in.
